The Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to recommence next week across four venues, with the exact locations yet to be confirmed. It is anticipated that the venues for the eliminator and final matches will remain the same.
"The IPL will restart next week at four venues. The specific locations will be finalized soon, and the venues for the qualifier, eliminator, and finals are expected to stay unchanged," stated a BCCI official.
"The tournament will kick off with a match between RCB and LSG. However, the final venue may be adjusted due to potential rain affecting matches in Kolkata, and this decision will be made accordingly."
BCCI to Release Updated Schedule
On Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a one-week postponement of the remaining tournament matches, with a new schedule to be revealed shortly.
The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala was halted midway through the first innings on Thursday. Spectators were informed of the cancellation and asked to leave the venue, while both teams returned to their accommodations.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia stated, "The Board has decided to suspend the ongoing IPL 2025 for one week with immediate effect. Further updates regarding the new schedule and venues will be provided after a thorough assessment in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders."
"This decision was made by the IPL Governing Council after discussions with key stakeholders, including franchise representatives who expressed concerns regarding their players, as well as input from broadcasters, sponsors, and fans. While the BCCI has confidence in the capabilities of our armed forces, it was deemed wise to act in the collective interest of all parties involved," he added.
Additionally, the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025, scheduled for May 24 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, has been postponed until further notice due to escalating tensions between neighboring countries.
